Air tightness detection, several common ways of air tightness leakage detection

The air tightness of the product is related to the quality of the product, so the air tightness test should be carried out after the completion of the product production to ensure that the air tightness of the product is in the qualified standard. Hermetic leak detector adopts advanced pneumatic technology. The following are several common leak detection methods

1. Differential pressure comparison mode

A certain pressure of compressed air is filled into the object to be measured and maintained for a certain period of time. The pressure change is detected by the pressure sensor. The change is compared with the pressure value of the standard sample (the sealing is intact and qualified) under the same working conditions to determine whether the object to be measured has leakage. According to the change of pressure, the leak detector can quantitatively detect whether the air tightness of the tested object is qualified or not. This method has been widely used because of its advantages of good execution, easy to identify the sealing, no damage to the contaminated workpiece, and easy to realize the automation of the test process. Such as camera air tightness test, speaker air tightness test, connector waterproof test, etc.

2. Water immersion method or surface spray method (visual inspection)

After inflating the tested object, the tested object is put into a certain liquid (water is the most common) or soapy water is smeared on the tested object. The operator can judge whether the tested object has leakage according to the visual inspection of bubbles or soap bubbles in the liquid. This method mainly depends on the judgment of the operator, its advantages are intuitive and relatively reliable, but it is difficult to quantitatively measure the specific leakage of the measured object. At the same time, the test environment and the state of the operator also have a great impact on the test results. It is necessary to clean, dry and antirust the tested object after using this method, which directly affects the test results. It is gradually replaced by new air tightness testing equipment.

3. Set pressure detection (pressure maintaining mode)

After the measured object is inflated, the pressure change inside the measured object is directly measured by pressure gauge, U-tube or pressure sensor, and then the leakage of the measured object is calculated. Its advantage is that the structure of the test system is simple. However, when the test environment is complex (such as temperature effect), the precision requirement is high and the leakage is very small, or in order to save time and improve efficiency, the precision requirement of the pressure gauge or pressure sensor is very high, which makes the cost of this detection method very high, and even difficult to achieve. Also by the majority of customers abandoned.

The new pneumatic technology is needed to detect the air tightness, which overcomes all kinds of difficulties and realizes the automatic air tightness detection. The highest accuracy can reach 0.1pA, that is to say, the needle sized bubbles can be detected.
